Serendipity 1.5.2 Released

Serendipity 1.5.2 was released on Jan 25th, 2010. This version contains a minor SQLite fix to the previous 1.5 version.
For those who haven't upgraded to 1.5, that contains numerous improvements over 1.4.x versions, such as:

new event API hooks

fixed PDF thumbnail generation

ability to auto-scroll on borders when Drag/Dropping plugins

UTC server time zone support

improvements in the Smarty functions to easier use Serendipity as a CMS for individual entry output

quicksearch improvements for doing a wildcard-search when too few searchresults were found on a fixed searchterm

support for Typepad anti-spam server-checks, additionally to Akismet

As always, the upgrade was painless - upgraded from 1.4.1 to 1.5.2 in seconds - however, I do seem to be having an issue with previewing blog entries - still researching...
On a positive note, the performance seems to be significantly snappier.
( Looks like others have had this issue as well... )

Found the issue to the preview problem (it ended up being different then the DB problem detailed in the forums thread above) - viewing the source of the incomplete preview page and scrolling towards the bottom shows:

Your browser does not support the concept of iframes. Please open your serendipity_config.inc.php file and set $serendipity['use_iframe'] variable to FALSE.

To fix, just follow the instructions in the above error message and edit the $SERENDIPITY_HOME/serendipity_config.inc.php:

// Should IFRAMEs be used for previewing entries and sending trackbacks?
$serendipity['use_iframe'] = false;

Note (4/25/2010): This issue only seems to happen if one is using the BEX01 theme.

Nice tip for speeding up Firefox

Found a nice tip via the LifeHacker website on yet another way to speed up Firefox, via vacuuming your database:

Choosing the "Tools menu/Error Console"
In the Code, place the following line (note: all on one line):
"Components.classes["@mozilla.org/browser/nav-history-service;1"].
getService(Components.interfaces.nsPIPlacesDatabase).
DBConnection.executeSimpleSQL("VACUUM");"
Press "Evaluate"

The UI will temporarily freeze while the databases are vacuumed.
