After much hand-wringing and procrastination, I have finally pieced together my new dream computer (courtesy of
Newegg, an online computer parts store). I must admit that
Newegg has to get high points for service -- I placed my order on Friday AM and Newegg had shipped it out by Friday PM.
The specs on the new dream machine are:
- Antec Sonata Case w/ 380W True Power
- ASUS A8N-SLI nForce4 (939 Chipset) Motherboard
- AMD Athlon 64 3800+, 512KB L2 Cache, 64-bit Processor
- Kingston (2) 512 DDR Memory
- Western Digital Raptor 10,000 RPM Hard Drive
- ATI Radeon X700 Pro 256 MB Graphics Card
- NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Drive
- Sony 52x32x52x16 Combo DVD Drive
- Sabrent 16 in 1 USB 2.0 Internal Memory Card Reader & Writer
Maybe it will be fast enough for me to be able to edit a Word document or two...
{Now I just have to cross my fingers and make sure that none of the parts arrive DOA

).
