| This might be old news to some, but, quite by accident, I discovered that I could modify my Windows-formatted iPod from my MacBookPro. I was trying to help my manager out with a problem of being able to sync his Google calendar to his iPod and without thinking set my iPod to sync to my iCal (and to the Google calendars that I subscribe to). Needless to say, I was happily surprised to see the events actually show up on my iPod calendar (since I assumed that a Windows-formatted iPod would essentially be mounted in read-only mode under OSX). Of course, I had to verify that updating music and playlists functions worked as well, which they did. The nice thing is that the USB functionality seems to perform better under Mac OSX in general, hence all iPod/iTunes operations seem to be a little bit quicker (navigation, connecting and disconnecting, etc). It looks like the only thing that I can't do on my iPod from my MacBookPro is update the firmware on it, which is quite OK. Guess which computer my iPod will now be hooked up to the majority of the time... |
