MySQL to IPO?
| There are rumors floating around that MySQL might be trying to IPO sometime this year. MySQL claims it has 25% of the DB market share (more than I thought), and if that holds true, it would be interesting to see what effect this would have on other open source outfits. |  |

Well, the day has finally arrived, the long awaited release of Leopard (OSX 10.5). Mozilla/Firefox Tied to Google?
I must have been living in the semi-dark ages, because I was surprised to hear that Google provides 85% of the revenue for the Mozilla foundation (evidently the contract runs through November 2008). Since I don't know what I would do without Firefox, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that Google and Mozilla will remain the best of friends.  |  |

Firefox 2.0.0.8 Released
| Firefox 2.0.0.8 has been released. This release adds support for the soon to be released Apple Leopard OS (10.5) (although some bugs still exist with some media types) as well as fixes some security flaws. (Note: For all you Mac users, here is the latest optimized build for the Intel Macs and this one actually does seem to run a fair amount faster then the standard release.) | |

Leopard To Be Released in Oct 26th
| Finally, Apple has set a release date for Leopard, October 26th, 2007. Unfortunately, I will need confirmation that Adobe CS3 will work with Leopard before upgrading (although I do desperately want the sweet Time Machine feature). Movie: Into the Wild
| Even though I purchased a new Blu-Ray DVD player this past weekend, I still took in the movie Into The Wild this weekend. The Alaskan scenery shots were spectacular and the film was well done, but I had a hard time empathizing with the main character's reasons for cutting off his family and disappearing on a essentially a walkabout, but his interactions with the various characters he encounters are engaging. I have heard reviews that the book by Jon Krakuer is actually better than the movie, so I'll have to give that a read. |  |
