(Very Nearly) A MacBookPro Owner
| Last week, I was very nearly a 17" MacBook Pro owner. A couple of things held me back: 1) the price - $3000.00 is a lot to drop on a laptop; 2) I am looking for my new laptop to be able to be a successful hybrid of my Linux environment as well as a (better) Windows environment. Ideally, this means that I would have virtual desktops under both the standard Mac OSX interface (Leopard, anyone?) and also under the X11 enviroment as well (while running the KDE Window Manager - which looks to be possible with some tweaking). While I can live without having a virtual desktop environment on the Mac OSX side, it is an absolute must on the X11 side as I usually have an average of 20+ windows running simultaneously. The only other thing that slightly worries me is that the Mac OSX OS is built on top of the FreeBSD OS, instead of a RedHat Linux variant that I have grown to know and love ;-), but that might end up being a needless worry. In hindsight, I guess this shows that I have a little bit of willpower left (one of my co-workers did get one), but it seems to be fading somewhat quickly. (I know that I will take some flames on this one, so let the flame war begin) | ![]() |

| iTunes 7.1 has been released. Some of main additions are Cover Flow in Fullscreen and support for Apple TV. However, it doesn't appear that there is full Vista support yet. | ![]() |
